You are taking a test and all of the combined sounds and talking of other students are keeping you from concentrating. This is one of the various scenarios that is detrimental in our learning environment. Many students measuring overall student performance in relation to classroom size have been conducted, but more infamous, Project S.T.A.R. (Student/Teacher Achievement Rate) was a statewide study on achievement rate in relation to the ratio of students and teachers. Most of America’s schools were found out to have a heavily disproportionate amount of students to teachers. In 2003, Project S.T.A.R. was conducted in the state of Tennessee. Recently, in 2010, the research was compiled by the Center of Public Education, titled “Class size and student achievement: At a glance” which helps clarify the exact results of the project. The research reveals evident truths about academic achievement. “research shows that students in smaller classes perform better in all subjects and on all assessments when compared to their peers in larger classes” (Source C). Remember what defines a community and what can undefine my community. Population. If reduced, academic performance can increase, workload on teachers can be eased, and money can be saved. This can affect the economic future of America and the personal future of my fellow friends and teachers. Failing to act upon this issue can have disastrous consequences, consequences such as lower graduation rates and a shorter career span for teachers along with economic deficits. We as a community must make this issues relevant where needed in our schools and places of education. You should feel not as this is just a personal issue but one that can affect more than undeveloped kids at a school. I believe that school population is a very serious issue at the moment. Throughout this we should realize that it is not too late to make a difference to guarantee a great future for our educational
