Ruby was also secretive, she kept her private family stuff all to herself and avoided any questions that involved it. Before Ruby moved in with her sister she lived with her mom in an old rugged house and her mom just up and left her. Ruby stayed in the house her mom used to pay for with no water or heating for weeks without telling anyone or anyone noticing.Ruby is so secretive because she didn’t tell anyone anything, not even her best friend Peyton. Peyton had no clue where Ruby even lived. Ruby and Marshall had a on and off relationship and Peyton knew about this but everyone else thought that Ruby was single. Ruby’s mom taught her how to be very persuasive, but ruby used her new skill to do many things that weren’t always good. While Ruby stayed in that little house by herself she told a lot of lies to people. She lied for weeks to the landlord because her mom was gone and didn’t pay any bills but she told them stuff like, “she is working,” “she had a long night and is sleeping.” Also she used this skill of being persuasive to keep people from asking about her mom or Ruby’s life in

In Virginia Bergin’s book, H2O (2014), she tells a story that informs readers about the character’s life in the time period when the killer rain took life away in the world. Bergin develops her ideas of the killer rain by having the character narrate in a candid and addicting way that brings the terrifying and wholly plausible story to life. Incorporating the language that teenagers speak today, Bergin writes in an informal way in order to hypnotize the readers into the book, making them think that the killer rain is factual. Bergin begins the book by saying to the readers, “If this was a regular story, like the kind you’d read for fun, it would have such a great beginning. Probably they’d want to make it into a movie- it’d be good,” having…
