Munch – The scream
One of the best oeuvres ever created by humans, “The scream” is widely considered as an epitome of juxtaposition of its creator’s mastery in choosing colors and dexterity in conveying the painter’s emotional state. Although painted numerous times by the same author, every example of the painting holds some kind of genuine feeling, unique to that composition.
The picture can be theoretically spilt into two parts: the background and the face. The blazing scarlet sky, the blue placid sea and the seemingly infinite road merge in the horizon, creating an astonishing background for the dismal figure. The light bulb shaped face with its wide-open and creepy eyes conveys more of a feeling of uneasiness to the observer than of a fear.
