DNA is usually located in the cell nucleus (nuclear DNA),however small amounts of DNA can be found in the mitochondria (mitochondrial DNA or mtDNA). Dystopia Aldous Huxley uses many political and social issues such as drugs, sex, and brainwashing to create the theme of the novel. He also uses diction and details to emphasize the theme. The World State’s use of conditioning centers forces the whole of the society to find the value in spontaneous sex and drug usage. He uses satire to reveal that he does not want bokanovskfiy indefinitely because it would take away all individuality.…

It is beyond a doubt that the founding fathers could ever conceive an American society like the one we are living in today. The discovery of the structure of DNA marks a significant landmark in medical history. This has open the doors to a new realm that deepen our understanding of biological systems and promises a future that once was an abstract idea in science fiction novels. A challenge that my generation is facing is answering whether genetic modifications are ethical. Despite the ongoing debates, it is remarkable that this type of science is even possible, partially because of the universality of DNA.…

Human nature loves the thrill of the chase. Including the chase for money and success, that is why movies and books about gambling do so well. There was a movie in 2008 that did very well called 21. The movie was mostly fictional but it was based off of real events. There was a team that included MIT students but also included students from Princeton and Harvard that chased the money and beat the house at blackjack by becoming card counting teams.…

Gender Policing sometimes defines our society and this needs to change. “Gender policing is a normative approach to gender that involves coercion and socialization of individuals into conforming to the gender binary” …(MediaWiki, 2014.) Gender Policing also goes hand in hand with gender norms. Normative approaches to gender such as clothing categories for either females or males, what sports each the average male or female should play, if a baby is female or male at birth. The fact that at birth we are forced to give babies a gender when just coming out of the mother’s womb just shows how strong the influence of gender policing is in our society.…

In the excerpt The Social Construction of Gender by Judith Lorber, she explained how gender is a part of a structured system and how it is also maintained as a process. Judith Lorber concluded her excerpt by stating that gender equality “is produced and maintained by identifiable social process and built into the general social structure and individual identities” (67). In Black Feminist Thought by Patricia Hill Collins, she explained how Black women were considered oppressed because of their gender as well as the way they were raised and taught to do things. I agree with both of these author’s main points because this is how race and class is looked at in society.…

Throughout the diverse cultures and religions in the world, there are many different creation myths. Each culture has their own creation myth and there are many similarities, or motifs, within these creation myths. The three creation myth motifs that I thought were the most important were humans being made perfectly in the first attempt, an angry god punishing humans or another god, and women being created after men. Biology is the science of life or living matter in all forms and phenomena, especially with reference to origin, growth, reproduction, structure and behavior. Living beings have the desire to discover who they truly are and how they came to be the person that they are today. Many people have specific beliefs in an ultimate being that rules over all else, but most of these beliefs cannot be proven. The study of biology is based upon facts and hypotheses that can be tested and supported. Without biology it would be difficult to understand the beauty of life, and how living organisms are created and how the basic metabolic processes help organisms survive.…
