Motorcycle Club Trial

Decent Essays
Later on, we arrive at R v Rebels which thrusts viewers into the action during an episode of intense questioning. The prosecution’s witness, an ex-president of the Rebels Motorcycle Club, was the victim. The issue was in identifying the people who assaulted him. It was obvious the witness was being deliberately un-cooperative as reflected by his response, “I don’t know”, to the majority of questions posed to him. Even though the incident occurred three years ago, the witness failed to recall even basic facts such as whether he regularly fed his dog. Thus, the witness was declared unfavourable pursuant to s 38(1)(b), enabling the prosecutor to cross-examine whilst fulfilling his duty to call upon all material witnesses.

In the court case The People of the State of Colorado v. Sandra L. Jacobson, Jacobson is convicted of homicide. The homicide resulted from her truck colliding with a taxi cab while she was driving under the influence. There were two passengers in the taxi at the time of the collision and both were killed. Jacobson appealed the court’s decision on the basis that the trial court did not allow her attorneys to gauge whether or not the jury had become biased due to mid-trial publicity that included inadmissible information. On the fourth day of the trial, the Court was made aware of the fact that a local television network would be covering the incident that led to this trial on its evening news program.…

Trial Write-Up For the trial I was a lawyer for the Crown and did the cross-examination of Bobbie Bann and the closing statements. Our group’s goal was to prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, that Bobbie Bann knew he was shooting Fallon King. We focused in on a few different areas, what possible motives Mr. Bann would have and the different holes in the story Bobbie Bann presented to the court. Looking first as the noise he woke up to, it was only the weathervane scratching against the roof, a noise he should’ve recognized as it happened often.…

    The Sebo Case Essay

Many cases that relate to the defence shows that the provocation was due to relationship issues and extramarital affairs. Violent men and women misuse and take advantage of this excuse, as today in society, it seems more effortless to blame another than to taken responsibility and admit that they were in the wrong. One case in particular, which is a clear example, is the Sebo case which involved a 28-year-old named Damien Sebo, who was found guilty of manslaughter of a 16-year-old girl, Taryn Hunt. The two had been a couple for over 20 months however, they had hashed-out many arguments in the past. The accused claimed that the 16-year-old girl had mocked him about his performance and threated that she would continue to see other guys which later provoked him to attack with a steering lock one night after heading home from a night club.…

Excessive force ends with a major injury, fracture or in extreme cases death. Rodney King was one of the cases that opened the public eyes to this others brutality.
