Operating systems
A large majority of BYOD devices that student will bring will be Apple and Windows as these are the two most popular and Apple mainly controls the “tablet” market while most of the laptops will have Windows. By having more than one operating system through the school this could bring in problems installing software needed for school work. An advantage of these two operating systems being so big is that most software is made to be compatible with both however there will always be programs that are not. There could also be problems with the school network/drop box working with Apple operating system as it is run of a Windows server. To combat these issues the school could recommend to students that they run their laptops or devices of Windows or you may have problems installing certain software etc.

Ethics
There are a lot of ethical issues including copyright, privacy and file security. Ethics are controlled by different people all over the world. Copyright: The ethics of BYOD is a bit shady with it being hard to track what students are doing in their own devices meaning they could be using the internet for anything from pirating movies to watching porn. A prime example of an ethical copyright issue is having a paid program developed by you leaked online for free. An issue behind this is that you will no longer be making a profit by selling this program. When work is put into material it is automatically put under the NZ copyright act of 1994. No registration is needed for your work to be protected. This copyright lasts 50 years after the creator dies. These torrenting programs can be used to download near anything for free even if it a paid program like the latest Photoshop or the latest episode of “The Walking Dead” Torrenting websites such as “the piratebay” get thousands of hits per day and thousands of downloads per day, the most popular torrenting websites often release the lates program/movie/TV show just minutes after they are released. Torrenting can also be a very risky activity as a lot of the torrents are riddled with viruses and it is also very illegal making it a huge risk for the school as it would be difficult to watch what the students are doing on there own devices making it easy for me or you to u se the schools internet to torrent movies and games. File sercurity/Permission: With ethics there is also the risk of students using malicious programs such as Remote Administrational tools on other students devices to mess with them or corrupt files and cause havoc. RAT’s are inceredibly easy to use and many students in school would be capable of using them to breach other users files. Privacy: BYOD can bring many privacy issues to the table from leaking private files from other students devices to simply watching over someone’s shoulder. This links back to how easily a student could use a RAT to access other student’s devices and with devices being left on tables etc. around school they are easily accessed to install viruses on. To reduce the amount of privacy breaches on student’s devices the school can recommend students to implement a password on their devices to turn attackers away, passwords can be bypassed but the chance of that

Another option is for the school to keep their student drop box up and running and enable BYOD devices to access it through the network. This would mean keeping a familiar layout and process however personally I believe a cloud would be more sufficient for more space and speed, getting rid of the drop box could also possibly increase the speed of the school network by reducing the network load.

End user considerations/recommendations
I think the biggest problem with BYOD will be loss of property/theft and people using the schools Wi-Fi and resources for miscellaneous activities. To combat this I would recommend implementing clear rules and guidelines on what and what you’re not allowed to visit or download. It would also be impractical to perform scheduled backups of everyone’s devices therefor the school could refer them to backup software for if they want to back their work up

These reasons are the two laptops available to me now are barely functioning pieces of technology, this is the best laptop available for work and gaming, and it has the best technology for that price, or for really any price. Firstly, I love the idea of school being computerized. The only problem is that the computers that the school is using are terrible.…

With the money, each school could purchase inexpensive laptops that could travel on a cart from classroom to classroom -- a lab on wheels. This would be a viable solution because in partnership with Wireless Ypsi, the school would not have to pay for internet access and the only economic burden would be the purchase of the laptops. This plan would help improve the lives of all Ypsilanti…

People have many different opinions about dishonesty and its effect on society. Some believe that it is the cause for most problems and it is detrimental. Personally, I do not consider dishonesty to be destroying American culture and society. The lines are blurred when it comes to lying and morality. In today’s world it sometimes seems that lying is the only option and that honesty would actually cause more harm than good.…

Kids who normally take notes are now playing games on their phone and failing their classes. It is shown that kids who use laptops in class score 11% lower on tests and quizzes. They showed that the laptop interfered with the students learning and ability to comprehend, therefore they scored lower on tests than the students who took notes with pencil/pen and paper (Devices in Class). Using computers, students may be allowed to click on and/or find inappropriate content that should not be in schools.…

Putnam (2006) suggests, practicing the Golden Rule opens oneself to a process of change by considering others before one chooses to act. This transformation of letting the ego go begins to change one’s character form within. The Golden Rule cannot be manipulated to serve one’s immoral conduct, like the Iron and Tin Rule do. Moreover, the Golden Rule requires sincerity and is considered one of the most concise and general principles of ethics. Thus, Putnam concluded, the Golden Rule serves as a moral steppingstone that moves others toward good ethical practices.…

In order to overcome communication barriers in criminal justice organizations to prevent any ethical issues, individuals should make sure that, first of all, they are not speaking too fast or are promoting poor listening skills. Being able to comprehend information and having the ability to speak at a regular speed while still getting information passed quickly is vital in keeping effective, efficient communication. Additionally, language barriers and semantic barriers should be prevented by making sure all officers and anybody involved in the criminal justice system fluently speaks English, has no thick accents or speech impediments that prevent information from being properly passed. Semantic barriers can be prevented by avoiding the use…

As the world is changing, schools are changing, work is changing, everything is changing and right before our eyes. Maybe that 's because we are glued to our screen of the technological device in our hands, instead of looking up and around at what is happening to the world around us. Technology is everywhere and almost everyone has some type of device that transmits information faster than they have encountered before. This is including how schools are starting to distribute iPads to every single student and trying out new methods of learning. What they aren 't thinking about though, is how these will likely be a bigger issue then intended.…

Technology has rapidly transformed pedagogy in learning environments. Learning does not just occur in modern day classrooms, however, digital technology and online blended learning strategies are now incorporated in a number of university courses (McKenzie and Pizzica, 2014). The introduction of digital tools in the classroom would mean that problems such as digital inequity could arise and so, a digital divide could develop. Research suggests the digital divide is complex (Selwyn, 2010) and needs to be considered “not just in terms of access to and use of technologies, but in terms of whether the use leads to desired learning and graduate outcomes for the students”. For this reason, the topic this report will delve into is: The digital divide…
