The country is one of the most developed countries; therefore many people migrate here, to enjoy opportunities that they do not have in their country. For example, many grants and scholarships are offered to low-income families so, immigrants migrate here to become more educated. Also, there is more help given, like the Dream Act, and Obama Care. Families migrate to the U.S. to be more financially secure. Here in the U.S. the parents are able to find at least a minimum wage job and are able to support their families. The government also helps those in need with economic support, although not many U.S citizens agree that the money should be spent that way. Additionally, other countries may be going through a rough time, and immigrants need a safe shelter to raise their families (Benhabib). Article 14 does state that the immigrant has the right to seek asylum from persecution but it does not guarantee it. Based on our morals and ethics, it would be incorrect to deny them protection. An article in USA Today, narrates the story of Adriana Sanchez, who came to America at the age of 12. She lacked a social security number and did not qualify for financial aid, but she worked her way into college with multiple internships. Sanchez stated, "For most undocumented students, you have to put yourself out there. You volunteer, you go beyond what regular students do", and that is exactly what she did.
