KELLY
Are we gonna have to do this on foot?
CLARK
Too much wreckage to contend with in such short time. We should probably walk for now and get another car once we’re on the highway. There’s an opening over there. Let’s get around this, but be careful -- weapons up.
They take out their weapons. Clark inches around the corner.
CLARK (CONT’D)
(Whispering)
The coast is clear. Be stealth.
They move along the wreckage that extends into intersection. Duncan freezes up.
CLARK (CONT’D)
(Whispering)
Dunc, come on. We have to get going. You can’t freeze up now.
DUNCAN
N-no. It’s just that there’s what looks like hundreds of zombies feasting on the bodies of what I assume are the survivors of the wreck.

The commencement of the journey, or the departure, is the point where the hero steps out of their comfort zone and experiences death from their home life. King Arthur and Spiderman are two fictitious characters that are both similar, and dissimilar to each other. In an excerpt from Joseph Campbell’s The Hero with a Thousand Faces, he writes about monomyth, which is a twelve step process that is divided into four sections. This represents a continuous cycle that the character in the story must go through in order to complete their journey. King Arthur and Spiderman follow the cycle of the Heroes Journey by events in their lives made parallel to the cycle of the Heroes Journey. King Arthur and Spiderman, although from two different ends of the spectrum, are actually alike, both coming from epic tales of struggles and triumph.…

Joseph Campbell, the creator of the hero’s journey, did a lot of research on ancient mythology. He discovered that many heroes travel the same paths to becoming a hero. Campbell decided that heroes come across many challenges that are put into stages and in those stages the hero grows closer to the reward at the end. I am definitely not a hero, but my journey of finding Christ and giving my life to him has absolutely made me into a better person overall. As I look at my journey of finding Christ, I see that it has many similarities to Campbell’s Hero’s Journey.…

Over the years and years spent on studying mythology, Joseph Campbell came up with the concept of The Hero’s Journey. The Hero’s Journey states that all hero’s travel in a similar path and go through many similar stages that’ll lead them to their reward. However, not every hero’s journey has to involve obstacles as in slaying a dragon or trying to save the world. In my case, I had to do nothing but trying to make it through sixth grade year. Sadly, sixth grade was the year that I faced the most challenges, real world challenges at least.…
