Ego Integrity vs. Despair This paper explores the various aspects of life review and ego integrity through a practical application by discussing the observations recorded in a therapeutic assessment interview with a 74-year-old female. The face to face interview was conducted at her home in a systematic and orderly manner and covered the following topics: demographics, employment history, education, life changing experiences, personal strengths and positive coping skills, and the advice she would give her younger self. The interviewer was informed that her responses will be recorded and the information will be used to get to know her better and plan her care more effectively. The sociological data collected included the interviewer’s age, marital status, employment history, education level, number of children, hobbies and leisure activities and her closes relationships. The interviewee, C.B. is a 74-year-old retired African American female that lives alone in her one bed room apartment. After graduating high school, she obtained an associate in business communications and studied bible study methods at the College of Biblical Studies. C.B. retired from Exxon Corp USA as the communications center manager after 25 years. C.B. has four children with all of whom are very close to her. She has been widowed now for eight years. She is currently very active in her church, where she has been a member for 46 years and holds multiple positions including director of emeritus of women’s ministry, group leader of seniors in action.
