Being given the opportunity to interview an individual and ask questions that reveal their personal attachments to their cultural identity, I knew the perfect person to select. Having the privilege of working within a very diverse Jr. high school in the local school district has allowed me to work alongside many well educated professionals who are also very diverse, and offer themselves on a deeper level to the students they assist. For my interview I chose an educator who I encounter on a daily basis in the Special Education Department. Maureen Ieta has worked for the school district for 25years. Maureen is an individual that I feel puts all of her heart and soul into the students she comes in contact with and before long a nurturing connection…

The weaknesses I encountered after listening back at my interview is the nervousness I displayed, the pace of my deliverance was fast, and the awkward moments of silence. For most individuals who gets nervous will speak faster than they normally would. Avoiding periods of silence would be something I need to work on, as I tend to compensate the periods of silence with filler words such as ums and ahs. Organization is a strength I attained for this interview. I developed a step-by-step practical template using the episodic history…

Mock Interview Reflection The mock interview was closely related to the topics covered in the readings and in class. Getting practice using the techniques we have been learning in real time, with a real person, made the content more concrete. I was conscious of employing solution focused techniques as much as possible in the short time we had to conduct the interview. While my performance produced mixed results, the practice was a good start to becoming an expert using the technique. Strengths and Effectiveness When reflecting on my performance, I was able to express to the client I was fully engaged in our conversation by intentionally implementing a variety of reflection strategies.…

A couple things I would change are how I plan out developing the speech and how much to practice it. For developing the speech, I need to be sure of what exactly I want to talk about at the interview. I felt that my questions were interesting, but a couple were somewhat unneeded. However, I came to the conclusion that it is better to have too much than not enough for an interview because I had enough information to work with. Also, I should have taken more time to thoroughly practice my speech out loud in front of others.…
