Despite multiple subjects taking some time to develop or even be accepted, they still happened. Without the Nay’s contribution to commerce and ending the slave trade it is very much possible that the American people would not have such a large array of overseas trading partners. Also, there would be larger losses of life and property to pirates all over the world without the naval fleets being stationed in various locations. The Army has made contribution to public health and safety that has allowed the people to remain healthy despite constant travel of troops to and from overseas and the corps of engineers, although they are often seen as the villain, have done what they can to help prevent loss of life in the valleys of the Mississippi
