It disheartening to thing how our society has moved away from this sense of community, to a population filled with individuals. We’ve stop giving much thought to moral progress; zeroing in on material progress and any bits that contribute towards it1. A sense of altruism will not guarantee you a life of success because of time. Productivity requires time, time is money; time spent on activities that do not bring you close to a material goal is time wasted. Taking time out of your day to help develop a community is not high on priority lists.
