When Michael tried out for his 9th grade basketball team he did not make a spot on it, but while the team was playing basketball so was Michael, Michael trained inevitably to become the player he is now known to be. The following high-school years Michael became an on-court phenomenon. Michael had caught attention of many colleges but committed to UNC.
Michael not only had an amazing NBA career but also knocked down walls as a Carolina Tar Heel. Michael’s Freshman year as a college athlete he was named AAC’s Freshman of the Year. This same year Michael and the Tar Heels Advanced to the championship in 1982 where Michael hit the unbelievable game winning shot. He went on to play two more years at UNC winning the Naismith and Wooden Player of the Year award.
