The Death of a King Anyone who knows me personally knows that I am one of the most dedicated Michael Jackson fans. I have found friends that love Michael Jackson, but none to the inspirational level that I do. My mom said back when I was still in her womb, that I would move around when Michael Jackson songs were played. When I was in second grade, I brought a Michael Jackson CD into my music class and insisted that my teacher play it, and she did. As soon as I heard the bass on Billie Jean, or the violin of They Are Not Alone, I got up and danced. I started to watch, and learn more about him. I was amazed by the amount of pure talent that he had. His attention to detail was inspiring. I learned a lot. I learned about a misunderstood man who was entered uncharted territory, heights and fame that was previously not known. A man who lived his life under a microscope. Since 2009 I have learned a lot about Michael Jackson. I learned about his philanthropy, and charity work. I learned about how he created his music. The part that has inspired me the most is how he used his fame and platform to bring real issues to attention. Issues that many people don’t like to face and issues that was still face today. One of his most famous number one singles was “Man in the Mirror” off of his 1987 record “Bad”. After watching the video and listening to the lyrics I realized that If I want something done then I should do it myself, because if not, it may never get done. As I researched deeper into his discography, I found some amazing, inspiring songs. They were more direct to specific issues. My favorite is probably “They Don’t Care About Us”. After watching both versions of the music video and listening to the lyrics I became sort of angry. I felt his anger.
