Undifferentiated schizophrenia is when people who are diagnosed result in fluctuating symptoms, which makes it difficult to diagnose which type of schizophrenia they may have. Finally, residual schizophrenia is when a person’s symptoms are not noticeable and do not exist for a period of time. They may still receive hallucinations or delusions, but these symptoms are not as severe as when the disorder was first diagnosed. For this type of schizophrenia, there are two phases- the waxing and waning phase. The waxing phase is when symptoms increase in intensity and the waning phase is when symptoms decrease and may become non-existent (“Schizophrenia”).
The symptoms of Schizophrenia are separated into three categories. The categories include positive symptoms which are behaviors not usually seen in healthy people. Symptoms are hallucinations, delusions, disorganized speech, sleep apnea, and more. Negative symptoms which disrupt healthy, normal behavior. Symptoms are reduced emotions and speaking, and difficulty in everyday life tasks. Cognitive symptoms result in changes in memory and thinking. The symptom is short attention spans, problems with working memory, a decreased ability to understand things, and
