Since the mind and body are interconnected during dance, a certain dance style can exert a freedom of expression, which allows the patients to openly convey what they feel and the type of burden that they have been carrying on their shoulders. Many psychiatric illnesses, like schizophrenia, autism and borderline personality, are treated with ineffective forms of therapy such as electroshock therapy and psychodynamic therapy. Electrically induced seizures are not an effective way to treat an illness and often cause more problems towards the illness, rather than relieving psychiatric, mental and physical stress.
