Menachem Begin was the sixth prime minister of Israel (1977-1983) who not only committed his life to fighting anti semitism, but was also the commander of the terrorist group “Irgun” in order to solidify a jewish state. Menachem Begin was a crucial component to the arab-israeli conflict due to his pre-war actions, his actions as prime minister, and the perspectives based on his actions.

After the Holocaust, Begin was always in favor of a country, or a safe haven, for the Jews, and sought to achieve this goal by any means necessary. The Israeli were in favor of this, due to the fact that it gave them a way of a safe life with their own country. The Arabs, however, greatly opposed Begins belief due to them being taken away from their homes and their city. However, in the beginning, the UN Partition plan was put into place, and Menachem agreed with it, but when the Arabs neglected the plan he leaned towards a “harsher” approach. Menachems acts and views created a favorable perspective for the Israeli, but was seen as a terrorist with no morals to the Arabs.
In conclusion, Menachem Begin was a strong leader who was passionate for the cause of a safe haven for the jewish community. Being part of strong revolts as a child, achieving a major peace treaty, and being a favored leader to the Israeli are just a few of the major points as to why Begin was seen as a strong leader who helped the Israeli cause during his role in the arab-Israeli
