We obtain convenient friends as we travel through life. Neighbors, classmates, coworkers, or just someone you met at the store, are some examples of a convenient friend. People who engage with each other grow stronger bonds. Some of these friendships become lifelong. While convenient friendships can be a blessing in our lives, having shared thousands of memories and experiences, sometimes these relationships last as run down habits. These relationships do not last, because some of these people are only temporary in your life. You may encounter these people at certain times in your life, but the fact that there is no consistency, the relationship comes to an end. Though there are many definitions of a friend, you would only know that the true meaning of a friendship if you have ever had a friend. Friends generally come and go but true friends always stay. You never seem to feel alone or unimportant to someone when you have that true relationship with a friend. They put up with you and take care of you no matter what. In a way, Merriam Webster’s dictionary definition is true. It just does not explain it to the fullest. If you are not friends with someone, you may care about their happiness, but not as much as you care about your own. Although, if you are true friends, you will care as much for the other as you do for
