For example, Maya Angelou was an African-American author, poet, dancer, actress and singer. She is from a divorce parent and went to live with her grandmother at a young age. She was molested by her mother boyfriend, however, her powerful speeches still remains alive to these day. “Her life..with rape scenes, poverty, abuse..struggling to build a life” (Avery, “What make Maya Angelou become successful”). Even though Angelou had horrible childhood memories, she managed to stay positive and dedicated herself to poetry and speech. “She worked everyday..she re-wrote and edited and did not wait for things to happen, she made things happen!” (Avery, “What make Maya Angelou become successful”). Angelou work hard to make her dream comes true. She take the advantage of the opportunities by writing poems and stories. Though she’s a black female and from a poor family she still study hard. Dedication, commitment, and determination makes a person take a chance to become successful in life. Just like Maya Angelou and Andrew Carnegie, they both become successful even though they are from different race and class. In America, there are many opportunities and everyone has an equal chance to succeed. Some opportunity in America is that everyone get to go to school and that there are lots of scholarships that can pay for student college fee. It might be hard and take longer time to apply for these aids but the outcome is to get through college and help you not worry about how to pay for college. If you are willing to apply for the scholarship and determine to go to college, you will always succeed if you give it a try. So don’t worry about your skin color or class, they are not worth the time, if people say you can’t do it, show them that they are wrong and prove it to them that race and class have nothing to do with your success because what define your success is
