Teachers might not realize it but they might put the gun in their bags, desk, or work folders. When that happens it’s just a matter of time until a child finds the gun and possibly use it. In addition, a study was done by FBI homicide concerning gun violence that happened because of children and teens. The data shows that as many as 1,448 children were killed from guns in 2010, a majority of the people who died were because of other children who obtained a gun from an adult. (Zipkin, Nina.) shortly after this study was done the FBI did another study regarding how children react when they see a gun. They placed a bugged gun behind a desk and positioned a concealed video camera right across from it. While a majority of the boys found the handgun, only a minority stayed away from it because they were unsure if it was real or not. Most of the boys pulled the trigger and picked up the gun, knowing well what it was from previous gun safety …show more content…
(Lopez.) Even when teachers are armed, it doesn’t mean they can properly respond to a mass shooting by using the gun that they were trained to use. Many people are too shocked from fear to even move. A study shows that; “Law enforcement suffered casualties in 21 (46.7%) of the 45 incidents where they engaged the shooter to end the threat.” These are people trained to do this kind of thing full time, and nearly half of incidents resulted in at least one officer being wounded or killed. Teachers with maximum amount of training would doubtlessly manage much worse. (Lopez.) Additionally, if people who are armed are placed in a situation when there is a shooter, most of them will likely not be able to stop the shooter and will probably get themselves killed in the process while trying to use the gun. Moreover, even if these teachers did get multiple hours of training, most people will most probably not respond properly and with enough efficiency to get the job
