While eating a tuna salad sandwich, Virgie Chambers and Mary Brown Randolph knew someone was about to make their debut; the birth of Mary Brown’s only daughter, favorite grandchild, DeAnna Chambers. She was born June 26, 1991, in Columbia, SC. She was born to the proud parents, the Reverend Charles Edward Chambers Sr. and Virgie Randolph Chambers. She was the first child for at least seven years until her beautiful baby sister was born, Mary Chambers. From birth, DeAnna’s parents knew there was something special about her. DeAnna enjoyed music, especially singing. Her grandmother, Mary Brown, would take care of DeAnna during the week while her parents maintained busy professional lives. Every Wednesday night and Sunday morning, DeAnna would attend church with her grandmother at Greater Unity AME Church. Mary Brown was known around Holly Hill for her dynamic singing. She could bring the roof down with her bold soprano voice. While ministering on the choir, Mary would have DeAnna sitting right next to her. DeAnna, who loved the sound of her grandmother’s voice, would try to imitate the melodious sounds her grandmother made. Her efforts did not go unnoticed and soon the rest …show more content…
Her mother, Virgie Chambers, wept the whole day! No daycare could come close to the level of care her own mother provided for DeAnna. DeAnna, on the other hand, seemed to adjust to daycare quite comfortably. This transition from grandmother’s house to daycare was made smoother by DeAnna being introduced to dance, particular, tap dance. This, like her singing, was a strength for her. From the age of five, DeAnna continued her dance career well into her late teens. The arts of dance and voice where her passion. She sang in school choirs, community choirs, church choirs, danced for the Ly-Ben Dance Company and even danced for her high school's dance
