William James once said, “Believe that life is worth living and your belief will help create the fact.” The play called The Crucible is based on witchcraft that took place in Salem. As soon as a person is accusing another person’s spirit of doing something, was just enough to sentence them to death. This was a period of time when no one was safe. The author, Arthur Miller suggested that when you value life you’re faced with challenges with yourself and others all around you.

To try and convince Danforth, Marry Warren says, “I love God; I bless God” (miller 194). Abigail and the girls are screaming and accusing Marry when she wanted to turn the girls in for lying about what they’ve seen or heard. She goes god’s way so she won’t be punished by Abigail she’s afraid that her life could be in danger. Reverend Halle states, “...for it may well be God damns a liar less than he that throws his life away for pride” (miller 202). John doesn’t want to give his name up; he wants to at least have that. So he tells Hale he’d rather be hanged than tell a lie and have his name be bad. If you throw your life away, you’re basically nothing and won’t be forgiven by god so you have to choose life over everything else. John Proctor says, “I will have my life” (Miller 204). So he doesn’t get hanged he will sign a paper saying that he has confessed in doing work with the devil. Proctor wants his life because he wants to live it and be with his wife and kids.
To get the full effect of life, one must go through obstacles that are all around you. The most precious thing in life, is life and you only get one. You’ve got to cherish the memories and not let other people ruin the good you have in your life. Ups and downs will come from all around.
