Mark Twain's Kindness: What Does Humanity Really Mean?

Have you ever thought of what the word kindness really meant? According to the Wikipedia the meaning of kindness is a behavior marked by ethical characteristics, a pleasant disposition, and concern for others. It is known as a virtue, and recognized as a value in many cultures and religions. According to Mark Twain “Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.” The meaning of Mark Twain`s quote is that the acts of kindness is transcended conventional sensory and/or communication pathways. These acts could be performed or experienced without you having to be able speak or being able to hear. A synonym for kindness is humanity. The meaning of humanity is the quality or condition of being human; human nature. A synonym for humanity is understanding. The meaning of understanding is sympathetically aware of other people's feelings; tolerant and forgiving. Some …show more content…
Also you should treat others the way you want to be treated. This saying means that if you want to be treated nice then treat other people nice. In the KJV Bible Luke 6:31 And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise. Have you ever thought instead of just treating others the way you would want to be treated? Think about others the way you would want to be thought of. Feel about others the way you would want others to feel about you. Speak to others the way you would want to be spoken to or spoken of. On its surface, the sanctity of the Golden Rule appears obvious. “Treat others the way you want to be treated.” What better show of respect for the people around us than to give them what we would want in return. On its surface, the Rule also appears to celebrate a highly valued human trait; empathy.
