The song, “All I Want for Christmas Is You” was written by singer and songwriter Mariah Carey. It was released on November 1, 1994 as a song for her Christmas album. She first got the idea to do a Christmas themed album from her then husband. They worked together with Mariah Carey’s writing partner to create the album. At first, they did not know if it was wise to create a Christmas album but quickly decided that not many artists make albums like this so they should take a chance. The idea for a Christmas album also sparked from Mariah Carey’s love for the holidays. She said that she wrote, “All I Want for Christmas Is You” just out of love for the holidays.
