For example in begging of the book he did not want to go on an adventure with the dwarves. In the book it states “ Far over the misty mountains cold to dungeons deep and caverns old we must away ere break day , to find our long-forgotten gold. Bilbo went to sleep with that in his in his ears, and it gave him very uncomfortable dreams.pg. 26” This shows that this helpless song makes him uncomfortable and have bad dreams. Later on in the road he starts to see himself as a different person, a better bolder person. It states “ He felt a different person, and much fiercer and bolber in spite of an empty stomach, as he wiped his sword on the grass and put it back in its sheath.pg 144” This country expresses to me as a reader that this journey has changed himself for the better, for now he is not a helpless hobbit anymore. The final fact I know he has grown as a character is because he is now useful to the dwarves. It quotes “ … Bilbo lay with his eyes shut, gasping and taking pleasure in the fresh air and hardly noticing the excitement of the dwarves or or how they praised him and patted him on the back and put themselves and all their families for generations to come at his service.pg. …show more content…
Although I have never gone on an adventure I have conquered self difficulties like Bilbo in the story, I also see myself as the underdog in my daily life and trying to prove he good at something. In the hobbit it states “Now is our time for our esteemed mr baggins who proved himself a good companion on our long road and a hobbit full of courage.” Well this shows that he has become useful and a actually good burler and I am actually reliable. Another quote shows “In fact he was in grievous danger of coming und3er the dragon spell. But plucking up courage he spoke again.” This shows that his courage is high to talk to a dragon and I feel like I could talk to the dragon to because I also have courage.
In conclusion I feel like The Hobbit is an amazing read and I will be reading more of Tolkien work. For she put in a great theme and that theme was that Bilbo grows as a hero as he faces more chleges. In my opinion I feel like you can put yourself in Bilbo's shoes and grow as a character as
