INTRODUCTION
What are macromolecules? Are you able to recall a time when you would use the knowledge of macromolecules to address a situation in your life? If you have struggled to answer either question previously addressed, you are not alone. Consider this: you may not have been a part of an experience when learning what this term means; therefore, this term does not have meaning to you. Across the country, educators tend to do what they have experienced or are familiar with. Growing up, classroom instruction was teacher-led direct instruction where the teacher was the source of information that was poured out the students. Because this is what most are familiar with, this tends to be the way teachers deliver information to the students of today’s society. The complication that arises with this type of delivery is that it lacks the potential to be stored in the long-term storage of the brain. Considering this decision can be one made at the district level and trickle down to the teachers, it is more common for teachers to consider their own approach to teaching. Overall, teachers want their students to be successful and enjoy the learning process as well; however, teachers also want their classrooms to be ran in an orderly manner, while being controlled at the same time.
Although there can be pros and cons to each type of instruction, the pros tend to outweigh the cons of a student-centered classroom, therefore gaining popularity with individual teachers across the country.
