Macedonia African Methodist Episcopal Church is a church with great possibilities, a church with a congregation that has great pride in their history and new opportunities. Macedonia is a church comprised of families who were raised in the town of Kaufman, Texas. It is a church with a rich history of strong believers; people who are willing to go the extra mile to accomplish any task with excellence. They’ve been tested financially, spiritually, and culturally. They have sustained a core group of members who are maintaining in the midst of adversity.

The church is the second oldest African American Church in Kaufman. The church has had thirty-one known pastors in their one-hundred and seven year history (Husk-Lister 2016) . There are no records to show the exact date of the founding of Macedonia AME Church, Kaufman, Texas. From verbal information passed down through the years, some believe that from 1905 to 1909, Macedonia AME Church was located on Hickory Street. There are no records stating what happened during this timeframe. There is historical information, however, on the church’s present location, 1504 East First North Street. It is also believed that a small group of members had a vision and a mission to provide a better place for worship services; with a strong vision and a dedicated mission, they purchased the present location on April 05, 1909, Macedonia AMEC 1504 East first North Street, Kaufman, Texas (information 2016) . The first Corner Stone was laid, June 4, 1916. This Cornerstone was presented to Macedonia by the Knights and Daughters of Tabor Lodges of Kaufman.
In 1950, Macedonia rebuilt the sanctuary which is now used for the Fellowship Hall. In 1973, a new sanctuary was built. During the early 2000’s, the church developed church plans for a new building, computer training, scholarship fund, and many other initiatives that would prove to sustain a strong record-keeping system for years to come.
