The witches add ambition in Macbeth, prophesizing that he will be the King of Scotland. The witches prophecies moves Macbeth’s ambition, but what causes him to become more ambitious is his wife, Lady Macbeth. Lady Macbeth challenges and mocks at Macbeth’s masculinity in order to manipulate him to commit horrible murders. Macbeth’s tragic flaw is his uncontrolled ambition; along with the influence of his wife and the trust in the witches, which leads him to take a violent and bloody path to the throne.This ambition in Macbeth’s life eventually leads to his downfall from power because he cannot control its influences. In the beginning of Act 1 when Macbeth was coming after the war, the witches told him about the prophecies about him becoming the Thane of Glamis, Thane of Cawdor and future King hereafter. Macbeth did not believe the witches ,but not after when, Ross gave the news of Macbeth being the Thane of Cawdor, Macbeth starting having some ambition , about the witches prophecies, because what they said did come true, then they might be right about Macbeth being the future king. All this news was giving to Lady Macbeth,the wife of Macbeth, a letter from the witches was sent to her stating all the information about how Macbeth how he has just became the thane of Cawdor, and how he can become a future king, but he is too noble. Lady Macbeth manipulates Macbeth, her husband, into killing King Duncan. When she hears of the witches prophesy of Macbeth becoming king, she believes that Macbeth needs to kill Duncan himself if he wants to be king and she queen. When Macbeth enters she praises him calling him Glamis Cawdor, Lady Macbeth tries to convince Macbeth to do the killing of the king in order to get the throne, at first, he does not want to do it. He believes that Duncan is a good, caring and respected king and so Macbeth has no need to kill him.
