After doing some research and talking with people that knew Alaska, they came to the conclusion that Alaska, killed herself intentionally. "..straight and fast...". This quote in the book is said by Alaska on the way that she wanted to die. She's always wanted to escape the labyrinth of suffering, and now she did.
4 Return Home
The returning home is when Pudge and the Colonel give up on the investigation and just decide to drive at the accident area himself. Both boys needed that one last thing in order to understand what Alaska had been going through which helped them to express their personal feelings to each other. "Some mysteries are not meant to be solved". This quote shows how Pudge gives up on finding more about Alaska's death.

Climax
This flowers represents Alaska and her self destruction. Like Alaska, the flower is beautiful, but after a while, the pedals will start to fall off because of the eroding. In the novel, the eroding was the constant reminder how Alaska got messed up with her mothers death. Each falling pedal represents each day that Alaska was falling apart.
Elixir
Pudge reading and memorizing all different last words from different people, symbolizes his curiosity. Even though people were telling him to give up on finding information about Alaska's death, curiosity is what continues to push Pudge to continue his last adventure. Even though he would never fully understand Alaska, he was closer than ever to understand most parts of
