Recovery in a group of similar people has been proven to be more successful and supportive. Mariatu eventually recovered but process could have had more support from those around her. Ishmael’s recovery can be described as group therapy that can help, “patients gain a better understanding of themselves, and perhaps a stronger set of interpersonal and coping skills through the group therapy process” (Ford-Martin 13). Ultimately Ishmael’s recovery is successful because he was with a group of individuals in equivalent situations. He was not isolated in the
