Effects of Child Abuse on Adults

Introduction
When something negatively happens in your life you believe it will only effect you for the time being. However, there are long term effects that are not looked at. This is what happens with child abuse. People are focused on how the abuse affects the child during the time of the action and not about the long terms affects. This is an important issue because it is common that people who experienced child maltreatment will abuse their own children. The alternative hypothesis is that there is no difference between a parents with child abuse history and becoming a physical abuse perpetrator and non victims and their children.
The method that was used to implement this study were interviews to assess variables such as gender, age, number of children, etc. They were then given a questionnaire that was self reported and assessed their childhood. In the questionnaire there are nine abusive events. The participants are asked if the abusive event was present or absent, 0=no and 1=yes. Also the Child abuse potential inventory was used to assess parents’s attitudes and beliefs on physical punishments and abuse. This scales examined things such as distress, unhappiness, and problems with their child.
The results of this experiments was that fathers had a lower potential risk of becoming physical abuse perpetrators with their children than mothers. In addition there is a higher risk of becoming a physical abuse perpetrator in parents with history of childhood abuse and neglect than in parents without the history of childhood abuse and
