After going deeper into the forest he finds himself surrounded by many different people from his village. He and his wife both get baptized by the devil. In paragraph 67, it says “there they both stood, the only pair, as it seemed, who were yet hesitating on the verge of wickedness, in this dark world. Both him and Faith were still hesitant about giving themselves completely to evil and darkness. He might still had a little faith that he had not been betrayed by his people and wife.
He then finds himself waking up in Salem. He was very confused about what had happened in the forest. But he did know that he saw everybody in the village differently from then on, he could no longer see them in the same light as he once did. He could not see his Faith as a sweet and innocent person with pink ribbons. He had lost his faith in the people he thought he once knew. He closed his self off from everybody, not completely trusting them anymore. He lived his life acting cynical and isolated from the village. Growing old alongside Faith and soon dying a gloomy death, closely followed by Faith.
After going through this journey, Goodman Brown learned that everything was not as it seemed. He realized that everyone and everything had two sides. His faith was gone because he saw everybody differently than before his journey into the dark
