There are several biometric measures which can be used to find an individual identity. They are physiological as fingerprints, face recognition, iris-scans and speech patterns. Human Gait recognition is a new biometric identification technology which aims to identify people at distance by the way they walk.
Gait has significant advantages compared to other biometric features are unobtrusive, difficult to conceal and perceivable at a distance. It is easily observable and it is difficult to disguise therefore using gait as a biometric feature has a great potential for human identification in public places for security. A unique advantage of gait as a biometric is that it offers potential for recognition at a distance or at low resolution or when other biometrics might not be …show more content…
The most important point is to match up testing dataset with training dataset to identify the subjects where both systems are useful for access control in areas as office, airport, mega mall and other restricted places. The motion vision can be used for surveillance, access control, detection and other monitoring purposes. The most important advantage is that person walking image can be captured from long distance and the image is then processed with low resolutions. Here focus on two different techniques Principle Component Analysis (PCA) only and PCA with radon transform (RT) on machine vision for gait recognition purposes.
In gait recognition silhouette defined as a region of pixels of the walking person and the silhouette extraction mainly focuses on segmenting the human body. The silhouette extraction process is shown in
