This week case study is Ligua’s long-term goal is to become a high school math teacher. However, she is facing a fear of technology evolution. She is in the company of students who are tech savvy and most of them have iPhones, new laptop and having twenty-four hour Internet access intimidates her. Digital natives surround Ligua. The use of social media goes two ways. In her case, she mingles her personal life and her work life into one social media account without boundaries and limitations. The comment that her friend who also a social worker made it clear that degrades not only Mary’s dignity that concerns her job but also to her patients. It is imperative for Mary to apologize to her patience of her behavior that reveals her true personality to social media. An explanation would be necessary to gain her patience trust again. It is important to reflect on the words you have to say regardless what thoughts you have. The most important thing is not making a comment that is derogatory to some else’s Facebook page. I would recommend Mary to confront her coworkers and address the issue. Otherwise, delete her in her friend's list to avoid further escalation towards the issue. Michael is concern about his son’s becoming nomophic from the word nomophobia, the author calls the fear of losing contact with your phone. My friend son’s behavior is similar to Aaron. Her son’s name is Steven and his thirteen years old. Michael’s case mimics my friend’s situation. One time we have dinner at their place. I notice Steven. He was captivated by his smartphones. I also observed he never left his phone away from is sight meanwhile having dinner. He is literally glued to his cell phone and never made contact nor conversation made during dinner. I think Michael’s fear is realistic, I’ve seen this is happening in real life. Teenagers are known as digital natives. This is their world. However, too much of technology consumption could cause health issues such as staying up all night playing video games could lead to tardiness in school. Too much staring at the phone screen could cause Myopia becoming nearsightedness causing a defect of vision. Additionally, heavy usage of social media, for example, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram could also disrupt school academics.
