Leonardo Da Vinci: Relationship Between The Hight Of A Person

Decent Essays
Question : Is there a significant relationship between the hight of a person and the wingspan of the person. Background study : Leonardo da Vinci, a famous Italian renaissance inventor and painter, was greatly influenced by a man named Vitruvius. The drawing shows a man standing in a square, which is inside a circle. The man has two pair of outstretched arms and two pair of outstretched legs. These are some of the proportions given for the Vitruvian Man:
The span of the man’s arms is equal to his height. The width of his shoulders is one-fourth of his height. The distance from the top of his head to the middle of his chest is one-fourth of his height. The distance from the middle of his chest to the top of his leg is one-fourth of his height. The distance from the top of his leg to the bottom of his knee is one-fourth of his height. The distance from the bottom of his knee to the bottom of his foot is one-fourth of his height. Purpose of study : I found Leonardo da Vinci's idea interesting and as such, I want to investigate whether there is a relationship between wingspan and height. Also, we want to determine if wingspan can be used as an ideal representation of height. This might be clinically useful, in the case whereby patients are unable to stand upright for their height to be measured.

Leonardo da Vinci and Raphael both formed the iconic dyad of the epitome of Renaissance art. In Leonardo da Vinci’s Madonna of the Rocks as well as Raphael’s rendition of da Vinci’s painting Madonna in the Meadow, a religious scene is depicted with Madonna gazes towards an exchange between Saint John and Jesus Christ in infantry as she realizes the grave future that Christ faces. While both paintings feature the same biblical figures in similar fashion, Raphael’s rendering takes on a brighter and lighter tonality and clearer disposition unlike Da Vinci’s more sullen, hazy, and darker painting. Nonetheless, both paintings portray an air of spirituality.…
