Since the creation of the law, it has gone through many challenges. Obamacare did not have many people supporting it at first; the bill, before it was made a law was controversial, even though it became a law it continues to be a controversial topic. (Feldman, 241) In addition to the challenging of the law, the entire idea itself has been accused as unconstitutional because it requires people to either buy the insurance or pay a penalty. The Supreme Court decision in June 2012 defended ACA’s constitutionality which dealt a serious blow to those that believed Obamacare was unconstitutional because it took the liberty and freedom from Americans away. The Supreme Court holds laws in harmony, if it deemed unconstitutional than ACA would not have been passed. Although one of the main arguments against Obamacare is that it is unconstitutional. This would not matter because regardless of the individual mandate, taxpayers cover the costs of uninsured people’s visits to the ER. So it really depends on if the costs should be paid now or at the end of the year. This prevents companies from “tricking” customers into purchasing plans that are not needed or cover over the amount necessary. Another way to keep insurers honest is the new 80/20 rule, which essentially forces the insurers to be candor. The rate review provisions purpose is to keep the rates down. An addition that could potentially save money, is that young adults are allowed to stay on their parent’s plan until the age of 26. This helps families by keeping the “family plan” for a longer amount of time. This also allows an easier transition for the young adult into the “world of responsibility,” keeping them on their parents plan can help with stress while still keeping everyone safe and insured. Overall the Obamacare plan, is to ultimately help the people get coverage for their health and to prevent any insurance companies from finding a loophole to extract extra cash from people who do not understand the plan
