In media we have produced a film trailer entitled La Mafia; our group consisted of me, Chris, Jeremiah and Onur. Our production was aimed at the 13 -21 year age group, targeting the B-D social groups but also the aspirer psychographic group. Our production was targeted at the male audience, as it contains the violence/action genre. To attract this specified target audience we have used various effects, techniques and made choices ranging from visual effects to minuscule details. Some examples of these techniques are our choice of camera shot types, length, angles in addition to the special effects used. Many other techniques used to attract our audience are the colour choice, voice over, title cards, pace and music choice.

In this aspect of the production we did not fully succeed, as it was found that the story line was hard to understand, despite the fact voiceover was used to make the story clearer. During planning our product seemed exceptional, however in practice our shot angles and voice-over downgraded our work. This issue could have been prevented by changing shot angle and type, in-turn changing the pace and adding more effect. For example scenes requiring medium shots to add action were shot from a distance, resulting in a loss of action, pace and motion. In addition to this each location chosen for the characters challenge resembled their strengths.
The strengths of our production in regards to it meeting the target audience’s preferences include the various techniques, because of the genres of action and comedy visual effects, such as explosions, were included.
Our film, La Mafia, will be exhibited coinciding with the summer break of 2015. This would mean that our target audience (15 – 21 year olds) would have a break from school and work; therefore able to watch our blockbuster film.
Our preview trailer will be released locally, specifically in Corelli College or independent groups (like film festivals) in addition to online services such as YouTube, as it needs to be reviewed prior to the official release. After our preview is shown our final product will be released to the public in summer, it is targeted at the global market, however due to the violent nature of the trailer it may be blocked in some regions.
