Kudler is willing to give up some performance to keep their current hardware, software, and networking system in place. Kudler opting to keep their current architecture they will save on price and time it will take to implement the new system. That is also our company’s recommendation to Kudler because there current system is sufficient, and we can design a program that will integrate seamlessly into their current system. These terminals are scalable, and designed for easy software and hardware upgrades. Their current POS software produces inventory reports, marketing reports, and financial reports. Inventory is updated in real-time as products are being sold (Kudler, 2008). Marketing reports show customers purchasing trends, and the financial reports provides all the financial data. Each of the three stores has their own local area network (LAN) network that is connected to the company’s wide area network (WAN). The WAN is set up with a T3 leased dedicated line running fiber optic cables. This line securely connects all three stores together forming their WAN. The T3 line connects to an optical router that then connects to the stores LAN. Each store LAN is set up with a 100 t-base fast Ethernet connection that is also fiber optic (Kudler, 2008). Fiber optic cables are faster than the copper cables, and the T3 line sends data rapidly. Each store is set up with a c3000 blade server, which is like a rack server system stripped down to the bare minimum to save space with the same performance. The blade system houses the web, storage, communications, email, files, corporate SAP ERP, and runs on a UNIX operating system. Their backup storage is a 10 TB server, and the power supply is backed up with an UPS
