Imagine you were one of the first black students to integrate into West virginia's graduate school. Most people would remember that as one of the most important things in there life, for katherine Johnson that was one of many. She was arguable the most important person to allow NASA to make it to the moon before the soviet union, yet she remained erased from history for more than 30 years. She also broke many stereotypes for women,and african americans. Kathrine should be considered a hero because she had courage, selflessness and humility.
Katherine Johnson was born August 26, 1918 in White Sulphur Springs,WV. Her education includes B.S. ,Mathematics, and French at West Virginia State college. After graduating college Katherine became a teacher. She left her teaching job to start a family. Once her husband got sick Katherine had to work again. When a relative mentioned NASA she immediately dropped everything and applied to the job. She got it.
Katherine johnson worked with in a all white male workforce and thought they were better than her and judged her for her gender and her race. She had lots of struggles she had to run over a mile to go to

She didn’t do this for the fame or glory in fact she was unknown of for over 3 decades. “Heros must be the ones to be humble and knowledge of self to be able to reach out for help if needed.” (Harris 4) Katherine is the perfect example of this she is not over confident and wanted others to check her work. Katherine truly wanted to help and insure that the people of america where free and still had power. She not only did what she did for herself but for others. Most heroes are ones who fight for what is right but what about the hero's the stop the fight for what is
