May 3, 2018 As a founder of the Methodist Church, John Wesley was one of the most inspirational evangelists to have existed. John Wesley has made enormous strides in influencing the way Methodist Christians should live their lives and worship God. He is seen by many to be the reason that the Methodist Church’s way of worship continues to be an important part of the lives of Christians.

A rector is someone who is a member of the clergy within an Episcopal Church. Being a rector of St. Andrews Church in Epworth, he had a major influence on how John acted and worshiped God.
Education
John Wesley’s mother, Susanna (Annesley) Wesley, taught all her children at home due to her fear that other children will prevent her children from living life as a servant of God. When John turned 11 years of age, he was sent to Charterhouse School in London. There, he faced many accounts of bullying done by other students which led to his long-lasting self-doubt. John was offered a scholarship to attend Christ Church in Oxford.
He left for Oxford on June 14, 1720 and began attending classes. Finding the work given to him for class too easy for him to spend much time and effort on, he found pleasure in discovering different events to spend his extra time and effort on. One such example was his love for theater. Theater allowed his mind to rid itself of the self-doubt caused from the bullying earlier in his life.
John Wesley earned his Bachelor’s Degree of the Arts in 1724 and followed that with a Master’s Degree of the Arts in 1727. John finished his ordination process in 1728 giving him the title of an Ordained Minister of the Church of England when he was only 22 years of …show more content…
However, he vowed to not marry because of his reading in the New Testament about Paul’s vow to do the same. Eventually, John resorted to drawing one of three pieces of paper from a hat, each reading; “Think of not marrying this year.” “Think of it no more.” And “Marry.” This was a practice of the Moravians as they believed the paper drawn would be what God’s will would have been. The paper John pulled read, “Think of it no more.” Broken hearted, John did as he believed was God’s will.
