The Columbian Exchange Analysis

The Columbian Exchange was a work written by Dr. Alfred Crosby in 1972. He wrote it after studying the Western Hemisphere a century after Christopher Columbus came to the Caribbean. In the work Crosby pointed out that there was four changes between the Europeans and the Native Americans. Some of the exchanges where good which included the exchange plants and animals. There was also exchanges that were harmful to both the Europeans and the Native Americans these would have the exchange of diseases and of people.
John Locke was born in 1632 in England to a middle class family of Puritans. He was influenced by Rene Descartes as he studied medicine and philosophy. Locke worked with Lord Ashely, Count of Shaftesbury and was also the physician

There are nine different element of this political system they are the Divine Right of Kings, Regulation of Religious groups are controlled by the leader, Civil Liberties are nonexistent, Legislative bodies are not used by the leader, Nobility is the target of the leader, Fiscal policies are controlled solely by the leader, the Rise of Modern Bureaucracies come to the surface since the nobility is no longer holding the power, formation of modern armies, and the use of secret police. Louis VIX of France and Peter the Great both use elements of these in their reigns. They both implemented elements of Absolutism. Some of the similarities were that they both disliked the nobility for various reasons, they built up each of their countries armies and controlled the country’s money. Both of their childhoods also played into how they ruled. Louis XIV with a distain for the nobility because he thought that they were secretive as a child. This can be seen in the way he treaded his people by separating them and stripping them of their power. Peter also ruled with effects of his childhood. He gained his love of Western Europe and then forced it upon his people in the new polices and style military that he commanded. But they had more differences. Peter the Great use more of the elements than what Louis XIV. Peter controlled his nobility by forcing them all to cut their beards and dress like Western Europeans. He also redid Russia’s army and Navy in a way that was more Western. He created Russia’s modern bureaucracy and created the Table of Ranks that gave the commoner more say and lessened the power of the nobles. While utilizing the elements of Absolutism he also bettered his country in other ways. He did this by reforming education, bringing in foreign skilled labor, developed mining and industries in Russia and added land to Russia’s
