Ivan Pavlov was a Russian psychologist that contributed experiments containing assosiation. Association is a connection between people or organizations. In this case Pavlov associated the ringing of a bell with food which made the dog salivate. Regardless of whether or not there was food in front of the dog, when it heard the bell it would automatically start salivating.
John B. Watson was an American psychologist that ran experiments similar to Pavlov's, dealing with conditioned responses. Condition responses are an automatic response established by training. Watson established a conditioned response with “Little Albert”, …show more content…
Operant conditioning is a learning process in which behavior controlled by its consequences. Skinner’s experiment with operant conditioning was placing a bird in a condition chamber and teaching it to peck a certain amount of times then be rewarded with food.
Albert Bandura studied aggression.He conducted the Bobo Doll experiment which showed how children learn behavior by observing. An adult was put in a room with a child and a variety of toys, including the Bobo doll. The adult would kick,beat,yell at, throw and hammer the Bobo doll for ten minutes and when the child was left alone in the room, he or she would do the exact same thing.
Edward Thorndike introduced instrumental learning. Instrumental learning is learning developed when an animal or human does something. Thorndike’s experiment was called the Puzzle Box. He placed a cat inside a wooden box and as the cat would try to escape, the only way it would get out was by pulling the lever. Once the cat learned this, Thorndike would put it back in the box and the cat would immediately pull the lever and walk out.
