Cognitive development is all about the way a person thinks. According to these theorists, Jean Piaget, Lev Vygotsky, David Elkind, and Benjamin Bloom, there are many different ways of thinking. Jean Piaget believed development occurred in four different stages of thinking. He considers the stages to be universal as the individual develops throughout their environments. The first stage sensorimotor focused on birth until 2 years old is basically the motor skills along with sensory organs infants develop during the first years of life. In this stage, the child should have motor schemas, sensory info, and imitation thoughts while learning object permanence and language skills. From then the child will take the resources shown and use them to perform a specific task. Scaffolding consists of three branches including the zone of proximal development along with zone of actual development and zone of eventual development. The Zone of Actual Development is when a child can complete a task on his or her own without any help from a more experienced individual. If a child cannot accomplish anything even with the help of someone this result in the zone of eventual development. The first pattern imaginary audience is when an individual imagines and believes that multitudes of people are enthusiastically listening to or watching him or her. However, a personal fable is when an adolescent thinks of himself or herself as the center of attention. The invincible fable, where the adolescent feels nothing can or will harm him or her. Benjamin Bloom developed the Bloom's Taxonomy to address the cognitive domain, which categorized educational objectives and necessary thinking abilities. In all the Bloom Taxonomy refers to critical thinking , a type of think that is beyond the basic meaning of concept , but in more dept. The Bloom Taxonomy consist of five levels: remembering, understanding, applying , analyzing, evaluating, and creating . As a basic level of critical thinking , remembering is the ability to take in information he or she has learned. An individual has to understand the information by making meaning of the information he or she have learned.
