Drip painting is a technique “where artist, instead of traditional style of abstract painting, drip or pour the paint directly into the canvas” (khanacademy.org). With the new style of painting, Pollock created a new form of art known as Abstract Expressionism. With the use of dripping technique, the art, although in two-dimensional form, the dried paint gives the viewer a three-dimension perception. The painting consists of a mash up of colors forming different patterns, however; the white line that Pollock has drawn on top of the other colors takes the dominance of the painting. Although there are no direct lines or shapes in the painting, the white color creates an illusion of lines (curvy and straight) that passes throughout the art. Based on this fact, once can say that Pollock was trying to send a message to his viewers that there is “light at the end of the tunnel”. It also signifies that Pollock was content with his life and after many struggles and hurdle he had overcome he was satisfied with what he had become. The black canvas represents the darker days in life and the vibrant color represents his experience and the white streaks portraying joyous ending of his career. Since there are no particular lines or shapes to focus on, for some the painting might not be appealing. From my perspective, the painting represents different aspects of life, but all in all it is about the beauty of life and it alleviates
