While conducting the area check, I was flagged down by a citizen who advised that the business he works for had been broken into. The employee, identified himself as Luis Ramos by name and date of birth. Ramos stated that he works for JPS Home Solutions which work out of the property located at 6538 Ridge Road. Ramos advised that he arrived at approximately 0720 hours to start work for the day and observed the back gate open along with two padlocks on the ground which were used to secure a trailer inside the property. Ramos advised that that last time he knew the business to be secured was when he locked it a day prior on 6/2/18. Ramos stated that he was not sure what was all missing but believed it to be a large amount of items. Ramos then called the owner to have him respond to the scene. Ramos completed a statement form. I took photographs of the scene which were later placed into Port Richey Police Department electronic drop-box for evidence. I then dusted for prints which yielded a partial print from one of the padlocks. I collected the print and the padlock which were later placed into Port Richey Police Department evidence lockers to be sent to FDLE for testing. Shortly after, the owner, who identified himself as John Paul Shaffer arrived on scene. At this time assisting officer Sgt. Cox also arrived on scene. Sgt. Cox and myself made contact with Shaffer and questioned Shaffer if he knew anybody that might have possibly had a motive. Shaffer advised that he had fired an employee approximately four months ago who he identified as David Williams Jr. Shaffer further advised that he then fired David’s friend Brandon Rodman approximately three weeks after David was fired. When questioned if Shaffer had any surveillance footage, Shaffer stated that he did not. Shaffer observed the scene to figure out what all was missing. Shaffer advised that a total of 39 items were missing with an estimated value of 13,505. Shaffer stated that they were all tools that he used for his business and further stated that some of the items were unused still in the box. Shaffer advised that he did not have any of the serial numbers to any of the missing items, therefore none of the missing items could be entered into FCIC/NCIC …show more content…

The business Allot Commercial Land Management which was located directly south of JPS Home Solutions had two surveillance cameras that pointed in the direction of the scene. Sgt. Cox and I made contact with the owner, who identified himself as David Fry by name and date of birth. Fry was able to pull up the video surveillance of the two cameras in question. The video revealed a white 4 door sedan pull up to the back entrance of the property at approximately 2220 hours. The video then shows a suspect proceed to the back gate and tamper with the padlock before gaining access to the inside of the business. The video then shows the same figure walk to the back of a trailer and tamper with the two padlocks before gaining entrance to the trailer where the suspect proceeds to remove several items from the
