I think a good theme for the book would be “life isn’t always bright”. The quote “it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird” can help explain this theme. Like I explain, the quote means that it is wrong to hurt something innocent. Another thing I explained was that several characters are “mockingbirds”. They were innocent people who were hurt. The kids in the book, mainly Scout, Jem, and Dill, realize that life isn’t just fun and games. They discover what the life of an adult is like, and the issues that occur frequently. The kids mature a lot by the end of the book, and they are relatively young. I would say that “life isn’t always bright” is a pretty good theme for this book.
In the end, “To Kill a Mockingbird” is an interesting book. Atticus’ quote definitely leaves a lot to think about, especially with the characters and story. It is a bit disappointing to see that most books don’t have this much these days. I feel like most modern books have a cliche story and bland characters. However, in this story every character has their own story, and a single sentence explains the entire book. If that isn’t awesome, I don’t know what is.
