Irony In The Interlopers

“The Interlopers” is a story about two men, Ulrich von Gradwitz and Georg Znaeym, whose feelings for each other change during the story. At the beginning of the story Ulrich and Georg hate each other, but during the story they learn that sometimes it’s good to let go of the past. This shows that the men were letting the past influence their opinions of each other, and the fact that they change so dramatically during the story is surprising. This story is a also a good example of irony.
The theme makes the story ironic, because when they’re about to fight, nature decides they need a wake up call and traps them under a tree which leads to them being friends. When they finally put aside their differences they die, showing that they should have
