Jon Krakauer uses a way of writing that reaches out to the reader's heart and emotion, which creates an emotional bond between the towards the reader, and allows the reader to bring their personal experiences in relation. Readers can feel emotional connection when Krakauer states something as “Beck […] was tough, driven, stoic. And what I initially took to be arrogance was looking more and more like exuberance.” (Krakauer 174-175) Here Krakauer is being honest, and is shocked at how tough and strong Beck Weathers legitimately is, and although Krakauer was not too fond of Beck, he still had to give him credit for his strength, which also demonstrates his unbiased view. Many people who have read this novel received the impression that Krakauer is reliable narrator because of his past, along with the way he speaks with good intentions, because it is true that he is unbiased. Reading this novel creates that aspect that someone gets while watching their favorite TV shows, they cannot simply read a few pages at a time, the story is too exciting, yet touching. Examining this novel from a reader response point of view really causes one to bring to reality of their personal lives, and quest for deeper meaning while being able to view the story in many different perspectives depending on the reader. By and large, “Into Thin Air” is a great read, it is intense, reader connecting, and it really gives the reader a hard hit of reality considering this novel is non-fiction, and this actually
