With the current changes in health care, Advance Practice Nurses are the way of the future. As our presence in the hospital setting becomes more prevalent, it is interesting to think of all of the different roles an Advance Practice Nurse can assume. I chose to interview a friend whom I consider to be an admirable colleague. She is a Family Nurse Practitioner who specializes in Palliative Care in the hospital setting. After going out for coffee and really discussing the different avenues her career has taken her, it continues to give me more of an appreciation for all of the things you really can do as a nurse.
