Interpersonal Therapy is a therapy that focuses on social roles and relationships. The goal of this kind of treatment is to improve relations, help with life changes, and teach a client how to handle themselves in certain situations. This therapy aids with depression, because depression typically occurs in interpersonal context and affects relationships. Depression is a medical illness that changes the way a person acts, thinks and feels. This kind of therapy is extremely beneficial in helping a person move past their depression and live a positive life.
Knowing techniques on how to help a person through depression will be extremely beneficial for a Recreational Therapist because not every client is going to be positive and have a good mindset. If a Recreational Therapist knows how to help a client through their depression, the therapy session and outcomes will be more beneficial.
A positive mindset will allow a client to feel in control over their health and life.

Helping a client resolve conflicts in their life will help reduce depression.
